RECREATION ASSISTANT (FITNESS CENTERS) NF-0189-02

Is assigned to one or more recreational activities such as recreation or community center activities; youth activities; outdoor recreation; athletics, fitness and sports programs; and/or other similar Marine Corps Community Services (MCCS) programs.Responsible for a variety of duties to include opening and closing the facility, maintaining and cleaning the facility, grounds, and equipment, and ensuring all guests are properly greeted and checked in.Performs and/or assists in the operation of the activity. Provides a clean and safe environment for assigned activity/facility. Based on established policies, carries out assigned phases of designated activity applying an understanding of the interest and needs of program participants. Assignments may include:
establishing schedules of events; applying rules and regulations, supervising participant activity in indoor and outdoor settings setting up gymnasiums, recreation areas and playing fields for activities and events; scheduling and conducting tours and off site community outreach events. Demonstrates procedures common to the activities, and instructs in the use of related equipment. Conducts instructional classes in the recreational area. Helps to plan and coordinate details of recreational activities and maintains related supplies. Assists in planning, scheduling and publicizing activities to attract and motivate participants.May work a rotating shift to include early morning, nights and weekends; may be assigned to work at multiple work sites.Maintains routine reports and/or performs clerical, custodial and/or general maintenance duties. May operate a computer and cash register, receive payments and make change. Ensures adherence to safety rules and regulations.Performs other related duties as assigned. Minimum two year experience in customer service, preferably in a related recreational activity. Skill to demonstrate activities and use of related facility equipment. Skill to learn applicable MCCS policies and procedures. Ability to acquire CPR and First Aid certification within 6 months of employment is required. This is a mixed position where the incumbent must be able to lift and carry objects up to 45lbs independently and objects over 45lbs with assistance.May be required to obtain and maintain a National Agency Check with Inquiries and State Criminal History Repository Check (CNACI) background checks which are required for positions that involve working with children under 18 years of age.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
