To qualify, applicants must have 3 years of general experience, 1 year of which was equivalent to at least a GS-4. Qualifying general experience is defined as the ability to analyze problems, to identify significant factors, gather pertinent data, and recognize solutions; ability to plan and organize work; and/or the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Note:
Such experience may have been gained in administrative, professional, technical, investigative, or other responsible work. Experience in substantive and relevant secretarial, clerical, or other responsible work may be qualifying as long as it provided evidence of the knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) necessary to perform the duties of the position to be filled. Experience of a general clerical nature (typing, filing, routine procedural processing, maintaining records, or other non-specialized tasks) is not creditable. Trades or crafts experience appropriate to the position to be filled (Legal Administrative Specialist) may be creditable. OR Completion of a 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree (120 semester hours or 180 quarter hours) or possession of a bachelor's degree. OR Applicants may combine post high school education and general experience to qualify. Combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements for the GS 5. Note:
To calculate, first identify the percentage of the required post high school education you have earned. Then identify the percentage of required general experience you possess. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify at the GS-05 GS 7 Qualification Requirements:
One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade (GS-05) in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Specialized experience is defined as work that involves:
Experience in providing customer service through a call center; Experience with assessing problems, complaints, and resolving them in a professional manner or referring them to the appropriate source; Experience working with computers and applying technical knowledge of several computer application programs; Experience working with office equipment such as copiers, printers, and multi-line telephones. Note that in order to be qualified based on specialized experience, you must demonstrate in your resume that you have experience working in a call center in ways related to the specialized experience and duties described in this announcement. OR Applicants may substitute education for the experience required in order to qualify at the grade GS-7 level in the following ways:
A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, AND meet one of the following Superior Academic Achievement provisions, you may qualify exclusively based on education:
a. Ranked in the upper 1/3 of your college class or major subdivision at the time you apply; OR b. Earned election to a national scholastic honor society that meets the requirements of the Association of College Honor Societies other than freshman honor societies; OR c. Earned a grade point average (GPA) of 2.95 or higher on a 4.0 scale based on all completed undergraduate courses, or all undergraduate classes completed during the final two years; or earned a GPA of 3.45 or higher on a 4.0 scale based on all completed undergraduate courses in your major, or all undergraduate courses in your major completed during the final two years:
here Regarding the Superior Academic Achievement provisions, if more than 10% of your undergraduate course work (credit hours) was taken on a pass/fail or similar basis, you can qualify only on the basis of your class standing or membership in an honor society. If you qualify based on your education, you must include a copy of your college transcript along with your application. If you are selected for the position, an official college transcript(s) will be required at your start date. OR Graduate Education. You must have at least one full academic year of graduate level education that demonstrates you possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to satisfactorily perform the work. One year of full-time graduate education is normally determined by the school you attended. If that number cannot be determined, 18 semester hours or 27 quarter hours should be considered equivalent to one academic year of graduate study. Part-time graduate education is creditable on a pro-rata basis. OR Applicants may also combine education and specialized experience to qualify for the position at the GS 7 grade level. If you have some, but not all, of the graduate education AND specialized experience described above, you may qualify by combining the amount of creditable education and experience that you do have. To do so, first calculate the percentage of qualifying education you have as a percentage of the education required. Next, calculate the percentage of specialized experience you have as a percentage of the experience required. Then, add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100% for you to qualify for the position at the grade GS-7 level. For example, an applicant who has 9 semester hours of graduate education (i.e., 50% of graduate education required) and 6 months of acceptable specialized experience (i.e., 50% of the experience required) would satisfy the qualification requirements for the position. If you qualify based on a combination of graduate education and specialized experience, you must submit a copy of your unofficial or official college transcript with your application. Note:
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills, and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience you document, to include volunteer experience. Note:
A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours per week spent in such employment.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
