MAIL COURIER/OFFICE MACHINE OPERATOR, NF-0305-02

Performs one or a combination of the following duties:
Operates a motor vehicle to transport and deliver mail, checks, cash, supplies, and materials to work activities on and off base. Ensures appropriate security measures are taken to receive and deliver funds and other items safely. Verifies and accounts for cash and checks received and turned over. Operates a motor vehicle on specific route assignment, on base and over public roads. Loads and unloads vehicle by hand. May perform general preventative operator maintenance. Must maintain secrecy regarding confidential, sensitive, or official matters, including office procedures, routes, schedules, and communications used. Receives, Prepares, Sorts and Distributes all incoming and outgoing mail. Maintains control logs for checks and packages received. Records, controls, and processes mail that requires special handling. Maintains postal meter. Prepares monthly postage report for postage used and submits to supervisor. Operates Production Print Systems (copying machine), Paper Jogger, Folding Machine and Cutting Board in the performance of duties. Duplicates directives, advertising flyers, forms, notices and other matters. Operates other copy machines in making reproductions of letters, memorandums and other similar matter. Uses a Champion Padding Press to pad locally produced forms and memo pads. Operates other types of miscellaneous office machines. Orders and stocks shelves with duplicating paper, toner cartridges, and other miscellaneous supplies associated with printing requirements. Performs routine machine maintenance, which includes adjusting rollers, tightening screws and other minor repairs.Performs other related duties as assigned. One year of experience performing clerical and support work that has equipped the individual with the ability to process a variety of different types of mail and operate print room equipment. Knowledge of U.S. Postal Service procedures/postal regulations preferred. Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license. Ability to operate a motor vehicle with approximate gross weight (GVW) up to 10,000 lbs to transport items. Ability to lift and carry heavy items. Ability to perform minor repairs and maintenance to print room equipment. Ability to layout and schedule print room work. Ability to communicate with others in a clear and concise manner. This is a mixed position where the incumbent must be able to lift and carry objects up to 45lbs independently and objects over 45lbs with assistance.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
