Summary Performs intermediate skilled technical work conduction chemical and bacteriological tests, and related work as apparent or assigned.
Work is performed under the moderate supervision of the Laboratory Supervisor.

Essential Functions Deliver excellent customer experiences in all interactions with internal and external customers.
Supervises laboratory analysis; assists with the management, control and implementation of laboratory services in conduction analysis of drinking water and wastewater samples.
Trains lab technician in sampling procedures and the use of lab equipment; provides supervision over lab technician; assigns and monitors work, provides direction, conducts performance evaluations.
Reviews lab data to ensure the correct calculations have been performed and that the data meets regulatory limits as set forth by state and federal protocols.
Develops and records lab standard operating procedures, records data in data base; maintains quality assurance records and files in accordance with state and federal requirements.
Presents reports to lab supervisor.
Performs instrumentation analysis; including setup and calibration.
Maintains inventory of chemicals and MSDS book.
Ensures parameter analysis methods meet requirements as set forth by state and federal regulations.
Troubleshoots lab equipment; orders repair parts and assists with repairs.
Assists with the maintenance of equipment and supply inventories to include ordering supplies and updating records.
Provides input for annual budget preparation.
Employee may be called upon in case of a disaster, either natural or man-made, to serve the citizens of Onslow County.
Service to the citizens during a disaster may result in the assignment of other duties, which will take precedence over duties described in this class description.
Performs related tasks as required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge, Skills and Abilities General knowledge of principles of microbiology, organic and inorganic chemistry including qualitative and quantitative analysis; general knowledge of modern environmental laboratory procedures, techniques; some knowledge of elementary physics, physical chemistry and biochemistry; general knowledge of state and federal requirements for drinking water and wastewater analysis; general knowledge in the operation and card of specialized laboratory equipment and personal computer; ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals; ability to write routine reports and correspondence; ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization; ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume; ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry; ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form; ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations; ability to prepare clear and accurate scientific reports including suitable graphic representations; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates.

Education and Experience & Special Requirements Bachelor's degree with course work in chemistry, biology, environmental science or related field with 2-4 years experience in the analysis of water and wastewater including compliance with regulatory agency requirements, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Valid driver's license in the State of North Carolina.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
